Facilitator spotlight: Charlie Davies

“It’s so encouraging to see parents inspired and to hear of families transformed by the great Kids Matter materials and the support of fellow group members.”

Running Kids Matter has been a roller coaster of emotions – a mixture of joy, frustration, satisfaction and disappointment; sometimes all in one session! My first taster in January last year was exciting as we had 20 mums along. Since then, I’ve run two Kids Matter programmes and five tasters, and have found it harder and harder to recruit new guests. However, even running a small group is worthwhile as we had one family with nine children!

With the help of a local refugee group and two Children’s Centres I’m delighted that this January we’re back on track and my third group is launching this week, with my first dad attending! It will also be the first time I have worked with an interpreter in the group and doing afternoon tea instead of breakfast (I’m sure the scones had a lot to do with our recruitment success).

It’s so encouraging to see parents inspired and to hear of families transformed by the great Kids Matter materials and the support of fellow group members. The love languages have been an eye-opener and the rewards charts a hit for many families, my own included. I can honestly say that since becoming a Kids Matter Facilitator, school mornings are much less stressful and the kids bedroom is tidier. And that’s just in my home!
