Facilitator Spotlight: Lynette Woodward

“I’m just love journeying with these families and watching what God is going to do in our community through Kids Matter.”

So here in Norwich, in “bootiful” Norfolk, we have just completed our first Kids Matter programme. I was so excited to get started but it took a couple of months after training to get things in place before we could get going.

We had 6 mums in our first group with 19 children between them! Plus two had grandchildren! It was great facilitating the programme; the booklets are so easy to use and the mums found them easy to read when we needed to look at them. The dynamic of the group was quite hard but with support they all joined in although in varying degrees; I learnt that even the quiet ones take a lot in!

It was lovely to see the mums support one another and grow in confidence but the best bit, for me, was seeing those light bulb moments. The role play in Session 3 was so SO powerful. In fact, two of the mums were almost in tears when they realised what it feels like if they are not listened to well. Such a great lesson to learn.

For our 6 week catch up we had a picnic in the local park. Four of the mums turned up, which was great – and the weather was beautiful! Next up is our booster (in 5 weeks’ time) and we have dates in the diary for programme number two, set to run in the autumn term.

I’m just love journeying with these families and watching what God is going to do in our community through Kids Matter.
